How to always be excited about coding

To gain the maximum emotional benefits you must focus on the process as much as the goal and realize that coding is more than just a means to an end.

Implement new algorithms.

Read up on the high-level details of a particular named algorithm and try writing it yourself -- and don’t use StackOverflow for this one, because now the process matters as much as the goal. It shouldn’t be easy.

There are lots of situations where a different control flow construct will do a noticeably better job of expressing our code's intent -- something we can't ignore as long we write code for humans. Not to mention lower verbosity and shorter code.
